About
Campus Buzz first aired in March of 2007 as a product of the News Department of WUML Lowell 91.5 FM. WUML is a veteran student-run radio station and is recognized nationwide in collegiate broadcasting. For over 50 years, WUML has graced the airwaves with eclectic sound from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell.
WUML’s News Department is headed by UMass Lowell senior Kate Watt who is also the executive producer of Campus Buzz. The show is overseen by a full staff of students who work hard to bring you the latest news and events happening on campus, as well as reviews in entertainment to keep the show fresh and unique!
Current Staff:
I’m Kate Watt; WUML’s News Director and the Executive Producer of Campus Buzz. I’m from Norwood, MA. I am a senior at UML, graduating in May with a degree in Liberal Arts with concentrations in English and Philosophy / Communications. Ultimately, I would love to find a career in radio broadcasting. When I’m not behind the scenes at WUML or driving the promotional vehicle for a Boston radio station… I enjoy singing, discovering new music, and going to concerts.
My name is Brian Gullekson from Southbridge, Massachusetts. I do the hourly athletic reports on the buzz and occasional music reviews. My major is chemical engineering, and I hope to some day work in a nuclear power plant making the world a cleaner place. I like all different kinds of music, but I do a folk music show and play in a punk band, so I currently like those two kinds of music the best. I also like to mess with people if they fall asleep on my couch.
My name is Emily Maloney. I’m a senior at UML with a major in English and Theatre. I’m from Wilmington and I’m a veteran reviewer here on Campus Buzz and I also help with Guest Relations. I’m hoping to find a career where I can use both of my degree’s. I enjoy most types of music, but mostly Rock and Folk.
Hi. I’m John Webster, and I’m the host of Campus Buzz as well as the weather director for WUML. I’m a senior majoring in meteorology. I grew up in Georgetown, MA and also attended Penn State for two years. Being that I equally enjoy weather forecasting and communications, Campus Buzz and WUML have been a great experience. When I’m not on the show or in one of my 6 classes, I intern at a local private forecasting company as an operations forecaster for places like Manchester Airport in addition to providing radio weather broadcasts for stations across the country. In my spare time I enjoy tennis, travelling, and creative writing. I couldn’t live without coffee - or my ipod. I one day aspire to be an on-camera meteorologist, standing in front of the green-screen and pointing to those areas of low pressure with a smile.
I’m Jeff Rhoads and I am a weather forecaster for the Campus Buzz. My major here at UMass Lowell is Atmospheric Science, aka weather forecasting. My main interest in weather is climate change. When I’m not studying the weather, I enjoy outdoor activities and being a Red Sox and Patriots fan.
My name is Matthew LoGrasso. I come from a little town called Stoneham, MA. My major is currently Philosophy, with a communications option. When I get out of school, I hope for a career in journalism, preferably print. For the Buzz, I write news and reviews, and read them on air. My favorite types of music are progressive and classic rock, although I do enjoy alternative every now and then.
Hi, I’m Johnna Infanti, and I’m a student forecaster for Campus Buzz (and also the Sunrise program!) on WUML. My major at UML is Atmospheric Science, which takes up most of my time, however sometimes I find some free time! I enjoy the Red Sox, Celtics, playing random video games, traveling, and trying to stay at least a little bit active. I hope to eventually find a career in meteorology, however I’m not positive which direction I’d like to take it yet - but I do love broadcast!
