Co-host Charlotte Crockford interviews Hillary Rettig, the Author of a Book called “The Lifelong Activist: How to Change the World Without Losing Your Way” . The interview took an unexpected and helpful turn when Charlotte asked Rettig about her vegetarian activism. Rettig emphasizes the necessity to recognize the realistic fears that activists and creative people have as they move into a new venture, and provides ways to move forward with eyes wide open. Hodgeheg returns again, still obsessing on the future of the planet and on the history of th e labor movement, as the Bread and Roses festival in Lawrence approaches. This week we talk with a representative of the Lawrence Heritage state park about the Bread and Roses Heritage Festival scheduled for Labor Day, Monday, September 3, where Charlie King and Karen Brandow, Faith Petric , the Raging Grannies, Banda X, and many other fine performers will be playing for free. Don’t miss it if you’re in the area. Julie Villareal also had a live interview during the second half hour of the show (Environmental Corner) about the solar-powered “Big Belly” automated trash cans being deployed in parts of Lowell. The Spanish-language hour of the program (Pensando en Voz Alta) also had a live interview, with Jamie Eldridge, candidate to replace Marty Meehan in the US Congress.
