Hodgeheg has reappeared two weeks in a row, and the second time (July 30) , he surfaced with an amazing young singer-songwriter, Olivia Chrestomanci of Acton, Massachusetts (http://www.last.fm/music/Olivia+Chrestomanci + http://www.myspace.com/oliviachrestomanci + http://esbeani.livejournal.com/). We discuss the themes of her filk and folk songs, the situation in Argentina, the nature of pacifism and repression, and so much more that you’ll just have to listen in. Of course, we played a selection of her songs and some vaguely-related material from Beatbeat Whisper, Ash Reiter and The Hutchinson Family Singers of the Old Granite State. The discussion was interrupted several times by an “Amber Alert” from the state police, and during one of these interruptions, the mikes stayed on and caught a little candid conversation not intended for the program. The recording starts in the middle of a song by Cabinet of Natural Curiosities which may be a bit disconcerting, but hang in there… the interview comes a few minutes into the recording.
The show from the 23rd is mostly music, and (in my humble opinion) quite good to listen to as well.
Rough playlists for both shows are available at Spinitron
